During the October half-term holiday TRAIN enabled two of our young people to take part in the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme. This is a fantastic opportunity for 15 to 17 year-olds to embark on exhilarating challenges, make their mark and build skills for work and life. They joined together with six other young people to form a group. The group completed a residential at Avon Tyrrell including high ropes challenges and other activities. They also engaged in a week of workshops at Oxford Brookes university, including the topics of FGM, LGBT, disabilities in sport and presentation skills. As a group they decided what they would like to do to give back to the community - coinciding with Youth Work Week they produced a video celebrating youth work and its importance which could be shown to councillors etc. TRAIN also gave these two young people the opportunity to meet with young people from different backgrounds at North Leigh youth club and their contribution to Youth Work Week was retweeted by the National Youth Agency ad NCS.
