Didcot TRAIN Youth Project

Project Funders

Didcot TRAIN would like to thank the PCC and the Chief Constable for kindly awarding £5,000 from the Police Property Act Fund for the period 1 October 2018 – 30 September 2019 towards the development of key life skills among children and young people (CYP) and TRAIN’s Youth Participation Pathway, involving the empowerment of CYP through responsibilities at a variety of strategic levels (Youth Ambassadors, Leaders and Volunteers). These exemplify two key aspects of TRAIN’s overarching objectives to support, empower and inspire CYP in the Didcot area.

BBC Children In Need supports us to conduct two Group mentoring sessions a week where we work on three main areas.

The Big lottery, Awards for all fund supports our Life Skill Programme by enabling us to conduct two Group mentoring sessions.

Have contributed to the funding of one of our Young People attending a residential Young Leaders Course in February 2017.

Our Young Leaders course is operated by Oxfordshire Youth and is a 3 day residential course. The course has a great mix of activities and exercises in order to develop Leadership, Team Working, confidence, self -esteem and also builds mutual respect and understanding. It is often the first time one of young people has been away from home and therefore we support any of our attendees with a Youth Worker/and or Volunteer Youth Worker depending on their needs. We are most grateful that SOHA enabled one of our 2 young people to attend in February and gain all of the benefits which have made a difference to that young person’s outlook on life and their potential to achieve.
