SHOUT!

We are proud to run the only weekly LGBTQ+ youth group in Oxfordshire, called SHOUT! We respond to the unique and diverse needs of LGBTQ+ young people, providing a safe space for them to share their experiences, meet other LGBTQ+ young people, and access support. Our team are in a strong position to support these young people, having completed CPD courses in Supporting Trans, Non-Binary, and Gender Diverse Young People and LGBTQ+ Mental Health. Young people who attend SHOUT! also enjoy food donated by Greggs each week!

If you would like to signpost a young person to this group, please email info@didcottrain.org.uk. If you are a young person and would like to join this group, please message Yasmin on Instagram (@yasmintrain).

After School Drop-in

Our after-school drop-in sessions give young people a safe space to relax, eat some food, and talk to a youth worker every day after school. Young people have access to desks, computers, and a printer, enabling them to do homework or improve their employability skills, writing CVs and personal statements. Our youth workers develop trusting relationships with the young people who attend these sessions, providing further support tailored to the needs of those who attend.

After-school drop-in is available to young people through targeted invites or referrals. This helps us reach young people most in need of our services, who are not engaging with our other provisions. If you, or a young person you know, are interested in attending drop-in, please email info@didcottrain.org.uk or contact Georgina on Instagram (@georgiedidcottrain).

Dinner & Debate

Dinner and Debate is another closed session, inviting young people to talk about a range of topics while enjoying food donated by Greggs. We believe in foregrounding young people’s voices, needs, and concerns, which is why at Dinner and Debate, young people choose a topic to discuss as a group. Previous topics have included healthy relationships, mental health, and social media use. We have also invited guest speakers to deliver workshops on drug and alcohol use.

If you, or a young person you know, are interested in attending Dinner and Debate, please email info@didcottrain.org.uk or contact Charlotte on Instagram (@charlottedidcottrain).

Base Council

As young people are at the heart of what we do, we’re passionate about putting their voices at the heart of our decisions. Base Council is a system that enables us to put this into practice. It is a group of five young people who meet once a month to share their thoughts on the strategic direction of the charity.

We are always on the lookout for more young people to join Base Council. If you are interested in being part of the team at TRAIN, please contact Lisa on Instagram (@lisadidcottrain).

Trips

We run several trips throughout the year, designed to engage young people in positive activities and enhance their social connections. Some highlights have been climbing the O2 Arena in London, visiting Queer Britain for LGBTQ+ History Month, and going to Thorpe Park for Fright Night. We have also arranged residentials to France, giving young people the chance to travel abroad, acquire new skills, and broaden their worldview.

For information about our upcoming trips, follow us on social media or email info@didcottrain.org.uk.
